Founded in 2021, D20 Deathmatch is a wild, high-energy game where we bend all of the rules of D&D to create an entertaining story reminiscent of professional wrestling mixed with a heavy dose of 80s metal; think He-Man meets Celebrity Deathmatch meets actual play Dungeons and Dragons. Players duke it out in PVP fights to the death in our D&D 5E home-brewed setting.
As co-creator and executive producer I wear a lot of hats when it comes to this project. My responsibilities include:
- Overlay and stream asset design and production
- Full production of the live streamed show to sites like Twitch and Youtube
- Sourcing, recruiting, and managing new talent on a weekly basis
- Production of social media promos and assets
- Editing VoDs for Youtube and podcast platforms.
- Editing long form VoDs into narrative clips designed for Tiktok, Reels, and Shorts
- Sponsorship acquisition and management
With D20 Deathmatch we aim to innovate in the space of TTRPG actual plays. First and foremost we are the single most established and longest running DND PVP show on the internet. We expertly mix that PVP with compelling narrative to tell a new and exciting story each week. Counter to the industry standard of 3-4 hour sessions in long form campaigns that can last 100s of episodes, our show is episodic in nature and runs in episodes under 2 hours. Our shows are also beginner friendly and we often hire guests that have never played before. While our episodes and homebrew setting is tied together with a loose narrative, it is not important to viewers to have seen prior episodes to understand and enjoy our content. In this aspect, we are inspired by shows like Mystery Science Theater 3000 among others. As a show runner I am constantly looking to find new and interesting was to push the bounds of the space in content and production quality. Most recently we converted our online show to an audience participation heavy live show at GCX Orlando 2021.
